The Žižkov Tower is one of the most dominant features in Prague and at the same time, it is currently the highest city construction. The 216 meter high tower was built between 1985 to 1992 by Vítkovické stavby Ostrava based on the design by architects Václav Aulický, Jiří Kozák and Alex Bém. The structure consists of three cylindrical steel tubes, together achieving a height of 134 meters. The main tube, consisting of two fast lifts, leads to an antenna extension reaching a height of 216 meters. The fast lifts, traveling at a speed of 4 m/s, belong amongst the fastest in Central Europe. The tubes support three cabins, the first of which is a restaurant situated at a height of 66 meters. The observatory cabin is 93 meters above the ground. The highest cabin contains broadcasting technology. Eleven digital television stations and eight radio stations broadcast from the tower. Analog broadcasting was indefinitely terminated on April 30, 2009. Six radio stations broadcast in analog VHF. The tower also consists of cell phone operator transmitters and the quality of the air in Prague is also measured here .
